Shrimp react to instability faster than fish. A tank can look clear and planted and still be too young, too clean, or too chemically erratic for moult success. Stable minerals, biofilm, and restraint matter more than constant tinkering.
For most shrimp projects, pay closest attention to temperature, GH, and KH. pH follows from those choices. Chasing pH directly with bottles introduces swings; choosing the right water source and remineralisation strategy creates stability instead.
Feed small amounts that disappear quickly, rotate plant matter with mineral-rich prepared foods, and leave room for natural grazing. Uneaten food destroys shrimp tanks far faster than light underfeeding.
Use dense moss, controlled filtration intakes, stable top-off water, and regular colony audits. Remove variables, not just waste. Long-term shrimp success is process discipline, not magic products.
